Photoessay #417 - Water feature

The beautiful shielded fish pond is at the end of the next street. Often, the pond marks the turn-around of my walk with Shadow often with my neighbor and her dog.

A few summers ago, Dennis and I would walk here every evening, though he won't do it any more. Contends that I walk too slow . But we were so amused by the large spotted and golden carp that live in the pond. They would hear our voices so they would think it was feeding time. They would all swim over to the park bench on the far side. The owners clearly feed the fish from that site. These guys wanted their handout. We would watch as slowly they would circle in the water in front of the bench. But no dinner!

The purpose of the mesh that completely surrounds the pond even from above? Raccoons after the fish? Coyotes? Occurred to me that this could turn out to be the bane of any number of son-in-laws who inherit the care of this place. Now I see that the house is for sale. They call this pond a 'unique water feature'. Certainly a labor of love for somebody. A nice place to walk by.

probably have the nets to keep the birds out of the water feature. Probably would eat the fish.
