Street near where I live. In February. In a few months, all of those bare-branched trees will be leafed out and the whole scene will green up even more. I walk by this spot almost every day when I walk with my neighbor. When I thought about where I wanted to live, the landscape loomed very important. I wanted somewhere that was GREEN. No arid landscapes. I grew up in the Sacramento Valley, termed semi-arid. As I have told my family many times, I do NOT do sagebrush. So Seattle fits the bill though it's damp and dark a lot.
When I went to college in Santa Cruz, I thought it was the most beautiful place in the world. Such a beautiful combination of light and green. I still feel the same way about the place. But the dark light-robbing greenery of my home now also fits me.
Many young women staying at our house this weekend. Instead of one, we have five! Susanna's here, Ilana's here. When Ilana starts organizing people to move boxes around and loading the car for her Brownie Fun Day, Susanna's out there in a flash. Why? Physical activity, she loves it.

That's a beautiful road. It reminds me of New Hampshire, but the evergreens are bigger and bushier where you are.
P.S. I hope you are having a great weekend with the girls!
