Today we took a ferry ride and visited Grandma Anne in Langley on Whidbey Island. Cute town, I could live there! The ferries, yes scenic, but generally a time-consuming annoyance. Even without significant ferry traffic (just try it in the summer!) it takes over 90 minutes to get there. But it had been awhile since we've had a ferry ride and now I have my new camera.
The shot shows the view as the ferry leaves the dock at Mukilteo bound for Clinton. Steel gray Puget Sound December backdrop, some coastal mill or some industrial activity visible looking north. But the group of shore birds caught my eye as the ferry glided by. I'm taking the shot from the lower car deck. Short ferry ride, maybe 25 minutes. By the time you go upstairs, you're practically there.
When I got home, I was thrilled that my close up shot taken into that avian group actually showed some recognizable birds. I could even focus on one bird, love that flame decorated beak. Maybe somebody can identify the kind of bird.
Dennis says that I've gone beyond the techncial abilities of the camera with the single bird shot. He says not even Photoshop could help it. But I still like it.
