Photoessay #189 - Thanksgiving ACTION shots
The main event after preparing all that food...
a. planning the seatting
b. guests serving themselves
c. eating the feast
All illustrated here! Featuring my grandmother's silver candlesticks also IN ACTION. My husband and I had our annual discussion/negotiation/argument about where everybody would sit
Me: I want everybody in the same room!
Him: Can't be done
Me: Yes it can, I know it can work
Him: There's not enough room for the tables
(or alternatively)
All of the people cannot fit around these tables
Me: Yes they can (without considering the facts, force of will and all that)
Him: HOW many people did you say were coming? 15????? It won't work.
Me: Sure it will, bring up that table from downstairs
Him: It's broken
Me: No it's not
etc etc etc
until we figure something out. We always do.
This year, I decided to put everybody in the living room, two tables next to each other and make the dining room table a buffet. Much fussing and negotiation, my husband grimly intoning "This will never work"
Witness the great spread with people digging in. Especially gorgeous vegetable dishes provided by the greater Gellermans. And 15 people enjoying their Thanksgiving dinner in our living room.
However, I must say, fitting the entire University of Oregon softball team plus (40 people) would never have worked. Thank goodness for the beautiful Leiter home!
Update #1 - the graveside service got all messed up as the nursing home doctor has not signed the death certificate, so frustrating, we can't have it tomorrow
Update #2 - 39 degrees and raining outside. Cold and miserable.
