Photoessay #256 - Charlie's glass pieces

I'm trying to complete the posts that I start...not so many loose ends. Also, that was a dreadful picture of myself I put up yesterday! Such a price we pay for confidentiality.

My brother's stained glass pieces that he's given to his family members. The bird and the aqua piece were done many years ago...25-30 years? The 'Ho ho Santa' piece for my sister is recent.

Just recently, he's started to do more stained glass work. He showed me a picture of a great goat piece he did for friends who have a farm. In Rockford, we worked on the design of a piece that he's going to give some friends on their renewal of their wedding vows in June. Had a lot of Jewish symbolism, stylized chais and stars of david.

He cheerfully told me of his original idea for this piece. A year or so ago, he went to this friend's house to help him entertain his young sons while mom was away on a trip. They decided to try the "Mento-Pepsi" trick in the backyard. Apparently that if you put a Mento candy in Pepsi, it explodes. So they all had a great time in the backyard messing with Mentos, Pepsi and a whole lot of fizz. All the boys enjoyed themselves. He thought about making a piece alluding to that that good time. However when he finished designing it he looked at it and thought "This looks like pills and booze, drugs and alcohol" He examined it further "Nope, well-meaning idea but, no".
